Andy Tennant has named a fourteen-player squad for Saturday’s Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy Final against Stars at The Uptonsteel County Ground, Leicester.
Mady Villers returns to the squad having previously been on international duty, Abtaha Maqsood is unavailable, as she joins up with Scotland’s squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. We wish Abtaha all the best representing her nation on the biggest stage.
Sunrisers reached their first RHFT Final, with a dominant seven-wicket victory at Headingley against Diamonds. An excellent performance with the ball saw Sunrisers restrict Diamonds to 232/8 after their 50 overs. Wickets came throughout the side, with Kate Coppack, Jodi Grewcock, Abtaha Maqsood, Sophie Munro and Grace Scrivens all claiming a victim, with Eva Gray taking two.
Sunrisers got off to a bright start in response, with the opening pair safely negotiating the powerplay. Grace Scrivens scored her fifth half-century of the campaign with eight fours and one six. However, her departure bought Jodi Grewcock to the crease alongside Cordelia Griffith. Together they knocked a mammoth 134-run partnership to take Sunrisers within touching distance of their target. It fell to Lissy MacLeod to hit the winning runs for her side with six overs remaining.
Stars, who also feature in their first RHFT Final this weekend, defeated Vipers in their semi-final by three-wickets at Beckenham. Stars restricted Vipers to 221/9 within their 50 overs. Tilly Corteen-Coleman was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with 3-33. Alexa Stonehouse and Danielle Gregory both picked up two wickets. Stars completed the chase with just seven balls remaining. Alice Davidson-Richards top scored with 90 not out, with Kalea Moore finishing on 52 not out.
Stars came out on top in both meetings this season. In May they defeated Sunrisers by five-wickets, followed up by a 44-run victory in July at Beckenham.
The final will be played at The Uptonsteel County Ground Leicester. Tickets can be purchased ONLINE and cost £10 for adults and £5 for U16s.
