2024 EMERGING PLAYER PROGRAMME COHORT ANNOUNCED

After a successful expansion to the Emerging Player Programme last winter, Sunrisers are delighted to be able to announce a continuation of the system which will allow 25 young cricketers the chance to continue their cricket development on the pathway.

Haileybury School (Hertfordshire) have come on board with Sunrisers’ EPP vision, and will become hosts of one of the hubs. We are delighted that both Culford School (Suffolk) and Felsted School (Essex) will continue as the hosts of the other two hubs.

Twenty-five players from around the region have been invited onto the EPP winter training programme, with twelve new faces introduced to the pathway for the first time.

This follows the Academy announcement earlier in the month, where four players progressed from the last year’s Emerging Player Programme and into the Academy squad of 15.

Sunrisers Regional Talent Manager, James Nordin, commented: “We are delighted to be able to confirm another strong cohort this winter. Last year our Hub system worked really well, and we welcome Haileybury School to the programme this winter. They’ve been great for Sunrisers over the past couple of years so it’s brilliant to be able to secure their partnership.

There is a real diverse range of talent in the 25 EPP players that we have selected this year, which once again includes representation from all our partner County Pathways. This continues to show the strength of cricket in our region and the excellent talent development that is happening in our County environments. We are excited to get started with this group and look forward to a winter of hard work ahead of next summer.”

Grace Melhuish, Sunrisers EPP Lead Coach, said: “It’s exciting to be able to welcome twelve new names onto the programme, which is testament to how well they have been performing in their county age groups.

We’ve now had eight players graduate from the programme into the Academy squad in just two years, after another four players were selected for the winter. This is something that we are really proud of, and can’t wait to see them perform for Sunrisers at that level.”

Congratulations to the following 25 players who have been selected on this year’s EPP winter training programme.
