Congratulations to Jodi Grewcock, who has won the PCA Player of the Month award for July!
Grewcock enjoyed a strong month in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, scoring 78 runs and taking seven wickets at an incredible average of just 13.7.
At the start of the month, Grewcock picked up the PCA Match MVP award against Southern Vipers. She hit 76 runs at the top of the order, before returning career-best figures of 4 for 45, as we completed a 28-run victory against the T20 champions.
The 39 MVP points that she secured in that game is the highest number for a single PCA Match MVP in the competition this year.
Grewcock received her bespoke Mappin & Webb trophy and described her surprise at winning the award.
“It meant a lot just to be nominated amongst three great players, so I’m honoured to be able to win it. I’m really happy with where my games is at and I’m enjoying contributing to the team.
There’s frustration being towards the bottom of the table but we’ve shown we can beat the best in the competition. To actually win the award is phenomenal for me, I didn’t think I’d be in this position but it’s nice to win it with a vote and see that people are backing my performances, we have a strong fan base at Sunrisers so it’s nice to feel their support.
I’ve got lots of aspirations for the future but first of all I want to contribute to Sunrisers winning games of cricket and then the dream has always been to try and play for England.”
We would like to wish Jodi huge congratulations from all the team here at Sunrisers, and look forward to watching her perform brilliantly again as we return to action next month.
