Sunrisers are delighted to announce that Jo Gardner has signed a new contract with the club.
The Northamptonshire all-rounder won the club’s 2023 Charlotte Edwards Cup Supporters Player of the Competition, sponsored by Sunshine Garden Centre, earlier this summer after performing with both bat and ball – especially playing some entertaining innings in each of our home T20 fixtures.
She was an ever present in the club’s first ever season, and is third on the all-time appearances list having played 39 games – scoring 669 runs and taking 23 wickets in that time.
After putting pen to paper, Gardner said: “I am delighted to have signed a contract extension with Sunrisers. The investment and progression we have seen in the women’s game over the past few years has been immense and it is a huge privilege to be a part of it. As a playing group, we have shown some really positive signs this season and I am looking forward to building on this in the next couple of years.
It is brilliant to be able to secure my future and continue to develop my skills full-time - I am extremely grateful to Danni and the rest of the staff behind the scenes for the opportunity to continue representing our region. I am buzzing to pull on a Sunrisers shirt again in September and get back out onto the pitch with the girls for our final four games of the 2023 season.”
Sunrisers Head Coach Andy Tennant, said: “We are delighted that Jo has agreed to commit her future to Sunrisers. She is a fantastic pro and role model for our young playing group, and we look forward to seeing her dynamic style continue to grow and develop along with us.”
