Squad News
Sunrisers have named a squad of thirteen to travel up to Birmingham for their first away game of the season in the Charlotte Edwards Cup. They will face Central Sparks at Edgbaston, with the game starting at 2.30pm.
The team will be looking to bounce back from a truly heart-breaking defeat to Western Storm on Wednesday night, when the visitors managed to pull off a one wicket victory in a remarkable finish.
Grace Scrivens was the star of the night, hitting 56 from 42 balls before taking 4 for 33 with the ball, the best ever figures by a bowler in a Sunrisers shirt.
Support with the bat came from an unbeaten 28* by Jo Gardner, and 26 from Cordelia Griffith at the top of the order, with Kelly Castle (14), Naomi Dattani (13), and Mady Villiers (11) all reaching double figures.
Abtaha Maqsood took her first Sunrisers wicket, claiming the dismissal of former Sunrisers batter Fran Wilson, who was one of four dismissals young wicket-keeper Scarlett Hughes took on the night.
Mia Rogers, Gaya Gole, and Flo Miller have also been involved in both of the first matches, with Sunrisers naming unchanged teams, whilst Katherine Speed and Kate Coppack will be looking to break back into the playing eleven.
Wednesday’s match comes too soon for Amara Carr, Sonali Patel, and Lissy MacLeod, who remain side-lined with their injuries, whilst Jodi Grewcock drops out of the squad after a busy few days.
Central Sparks come into the game top of the table after claiming a 34 run victory against South East Stars on Wednesday afternoon, which followed up their 20 run opening day success against Storm.
We wish a safe journey to those who are travelling up to Edgbaston to watch the game, or you can tune into the Live Stream in our Match Centre on the day.
