Sunrisers Academy player Flo Miller has been awarded her first senior contract, having signed for the remainder of the 2021 season. Miller, who plays her county cricket for Northamptonshire, joins Katherine Speed in having graduated through the regions academy and signed for Sunrisers in 2021.
Right hand batter Miller has been rewarded for her performances with the bat over the last few months. Despite a frustrating start to the season, seeing her sidelined with a broken finger until late May, Flo returned with a bang and has starred in the recent series of Domestic Academy fixtures. Her season highlights for Sunrisers Academy so far include 51 against a strong Middlesex Women’s side, 50 not out and 45 off 29 balls, both versus South East Stars Academy.
Speaking of Miller’s selection, Sunrisers Head Coach Trevor Griffin said:
“Flo has scored runs at all levels she has played at. After missing the beginning of the Academy season with an injury she has demonstrated her ability by scoring runs in key games. This is a great example of the benefit of the academy system and I’m looking forward to seeing Flo show her skills within the senior environment and be an inspiration for many other players within our pathway.”
Sunrisers Regional Director of Women’s Cricket, Danni Warren, praised all involved in Flo's rise in to the senior squad:
“To see Flo join the list of Academy graduates is testament to Luke Pomfret, his coaching team and the programme they have implemented across the region. As Sunrisers it is our mission to identify and develop players from across the region, providing them with the support to progress into our first team. I would like to congratulate all involved for the role they have played so far, and can’t wait to see Flo continue to develop on her new stage.”
Flo and her new Sunrisers teammates can be seen in action in their four remaining home fixtures across the end of August and September. For ticket information please visit https://www.sunriserscricket.com/tickets
