SOPHIE MUNRO EXTENDS SUNRISERS LOAN

Sunrisers are delighted to announce that Sophie Munro has extended her loan with us until the end of July.

The seam bowler has picked up twelve wickets in eight appearances since joining at the start of the Charlotte Edwards Cup campaign in May, finishing as our top wicket taker in the competition.

She already has eight wickets in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy so far this summer, as she featured in five games for The Blaze before going out on loan – claiming a best of 3/28.

Munro has taken two four wicket hauls in her short time with Sunrisers, with 4/27 on debut and then 4/23 in the final game against Storm.

On the extension of Munro’s loan Sunrisers Regional Director of Women’s Cricket, Danni Warren, commented: “We’re delighted that we have been able to extend Sophie’s time at Sunrisers. Sophie has brought quality and experience to our seam attack, showcasing why she is so highly regarded as a white ball bowler.

Sophie has fitted in with the group from day one and everyone is enjoying having her around. As we saw for the England Development side at the end of last week Sophie is a multi-dimensional cricketer and will no doubt be an asset to us as we move back to 50 over cricket.”

Sunrisers currently sit top of the RHFT standings, after four victories from the first six games. Australian Nic Hancock, who had been outstanding in those games, has now returned home. Everyone at Sunrisers would like to thank Nic for her efforts in April and May, and wish her all the best in the future.

Sunrisers can regrettably confirm that South African Dané van Niekerk will no longer be joining the Club this year. Dané spent the 2023 summer with us, playing nine games before suffering a finger injury.
