SQUAD AND PREVIEW | DIAMONDS v SUNRISERS (10 JULY)

Andy Tennant has named a thirteen player squad to travel to York CC and face Diamonds on Wednesday, as two of the top three go head to head in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.

After Sunday's washout against Sparks, Sunrisers and Diamonds are level on points as they look both to solidify their place in the top four.

Eva Gray and Kate Coppack looked threatening with the new ball, but only 6.3 overs were possible at a very damp Radlett, which had suffered from heavy rain the day before as well.

After persistent heavy rain, the umpires called the match off which awarded both sides two points, taking Sunrisers to 25 with five wins, two defeats, and three bonus points.

Diamonds head into the game off the back of a rain-affected victory in Cheltenham against Western Storm, thanks to an unbeaten hundred from their captain Hollie Armitage.

That was their sixth win of the season, to climb to 25 points themselves and just two points behind leaders Southern Vipers with a place in the semi-finals at stake.

Whilst the two sides have not met in the RHFT yet this summer, Sunrisers were victorious in the Charlotte Edwards Cup fixture between the two sides – played in Northampton on Sunday 2 June. Grace Scrivens led her side to victory with a boundary off the last ball, hitting 64* in a low scoring thriller.

The game starts at 10.30am at York Cricket Club. If you can’t make it to the game, make sure you tune in to watch Diamonds’ free live stream during the day on their YouTube channel, alongside updates on our social media channels. We wish a safe travel to those of you making the trip.
