SQUAD AND PREVIEW | LIGHTNING (11 SEPTEMBER)

Updated: Feb 27, 2023

After the ECB's postponement of all professional fixtures on Friday, Sunrisers can confirm that our scheduled fixture against Lightning on Sunday is going ahead as planned.

There will be a one minute silence, followed by the National Anthem, just before both teams take to the field at 10.30am to commemorate the life of Her Majesty The Queen.

Having trained today in preparation for the fixture, the Sunrisers squad are excited to get back in action at the Cloud County Ground, with confidence high after an August where players have excelled for their respective sides away from the set-up.

An unchanged squad of fourteen has been selected for our home Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy match on Sunday in Chelmsford, meaning that Amara Carr, Cordelia Griffith, and Scarlett Hughes are still side-lined through injury.

Lightning lost their last game by just one wicket against the Northern Diamonds, with Tammy Beaumont top-scoring for the East Midlands team with 70. They are currently one place ahead of Sunrisers in the table, and would drop to the foot of the table should they suffer defeat on Sunday.

There is plenty going on around the ground throughout the game, with every U18 able to collect a free Junior Sunnies Matchday Booklet from the Sunrisers gazebo next to the Doug Insole Pavilion. The booklet will have lots of activities to keep them entertained throughout the game, whilst learning a little bit more about the team.

Supporters will also be able to pick up free signature cards, which they can get signed by the players at the end of the match. The squad will be taking part in a signing session next to the pavilion shortly after the game's conclusion. The Sunrisers gazebo will also be selling merchandise throughout the game - please note that we cannot currently accept contactless payments.

The game starts at 10.30am at the Cloud County Ground. The fixture is included in the Junior Sunnies Membership. Tickets are on sale through the Essex website, costing £10 for adults and £5 for Under 18s. If you are unable to make the journey to Chelmsford, you can tune into the Live Stream in our Match Centre on the day.
