SQUAD AND PREVIEW | SOUTH EAST STARS v SUNRISERS (11 JULY)

Sunrisers Head Coach Andy Tennant has named a squad of 14 to make the short trip to The County Ground, Beckenham, where we face South East Stars in the latest round of Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy action.

Teenagers Jodi Grewcock and Amu Surenkumar were the standout performers last Sunday, when we beat Southern Vipers for the second time this season, and will be looking to repeat that form.

Grewcock batted patiently to hit her third half-century in four innings this season, which takes her into the top five run scorers in the competition, before entertaining with the ball – taking four wickets from her ten over spell.

Surenkumar, a sixteen year old Academy graduate on debut, hit a composed 25 at the end of the innings to guide us over the 250 mark, before claiming the final two wickets, in consecutive deliveries, to finish the game.

Fellow Academy bowler, Esmae MacGregor, and front-line seamer Kate Coppack also impressed with their lines, and both will looking to take their good form with the ball south of the river with them.

Grace Scrivens returns to the squad having captained England A in their recent series against Australia A, having scored 87 in the final game last Sunday. Eva Gray and Mady Villiers both also featured in the series, and will be available for selection tomorrow.

As previously reported, Abtaha Maqsood has flown with her Scotland team-mates to the Netherlands, where they are taking part in a Tri-Series which will see her miss both tomorrow’s game and the visit of Thunder to Northampton on Friday. Jo Gardner remains unavailable for selection with a hand injury that has kept her out of action for the last month.

South East Stars won the reverse fixture at Radlett in a rain-affected contest, but there were plenty of positives with the ball to take from that. They lost their first game back on Sunday, at Beckenham against Northern Diamonds, before losing to Central Sparks by 21 runs on Friday.

The game starts at 10.30am at The County Ground, Beckenham. Entry to the ground is free for everybody. It is suggested that you bring a chair along with you as there is limited seating around the ground. We wish a safe journey to those who are making the journey to south London, or you can tune into the Live Stream on the Stars’ YouTube channel and in the Match Centre on the day.
