Sunrisers have named a thirteen strong squad to face Sparks on Sunday, as we take on Central Sparks at Radlett in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.
This fixture also marks the Club’s Rainbow Laces day, with Sunrisers showing support for Stonewall’s campaign by encouraging everyone to come to the ground wearing as many colours of the rainbow as possible.
The RHFT returned last weekend, as we beat Thunder for the first time in our history – coming out on top by 30 runs (DLS Method) at Chelmsford.
Grace Scrivens (51) and Jo Gardner (63) both hit half-centuries as they put on 94 for the first wicket, with cameos from Mady Villiers (35) and Sophie Munro (20) navigating us to a competitive score of 253.
Munro then claimed her first Sunrisers five wicket haul in the afternoon sunshine, finishing with 5 for 25 which included three wickets in four balls.
The victory took Sunrisers to 23 points, five wins from seven games, and level on points with Vipers at the top of the table after they completed a bonus point victory. Blaze beat Stars to keep the gap to fifth place at ten points with half the games completed.
Central Sparks made the trip to Scarborough to face Diamonds last Sunday, losing by four wickets after posting 239/8. Davina Perrin and Katie George both hit fifties, with six of the eight Sparks batters falling to spin. Grace Potts and Bethan Ellis were the pick of their bowlers, taking two wickets each, as Diamonds reached their victory target with six overs to spare.
The game starts at 10.30am at Radlett Cricket Club. Tickets can be purchased on the gate at £10 for adults and £5 for U18, whilst entry is free for Essex, Middlesex, and Northamptonshire members.
