Sunrisers have named an unchanged thirteen-strong squad for their final home game of the Charlotte Edwards Cup campaign, with Western Storm coming to Northamptonshire’s County Ground this Wednesday.
There were plenty of positives to take out of the last game, against Northern Diamonds last Sunday, none more so than Grace Scrivens’ return to form, hitting 50 from 35 balls – an innings which also saw the 19 year old become to first player to score 1,000 competitive runs for the region.
Scrivens also shone with the ball, taking two for 24, as captain Kelly Castle also added two more wickets to her tally – taking her up to six for the T20 campaign.
The mood around the camp remains as positive as ever, with the players believing that once all aspects of their game click together an opposition team will be on the receiving end of a big Sunrisers win. We saw it at the start of the season, and the confidence is ready to soar back to that high.
Our next opponents are Western Storm, who have won one and lost three of their Charlotte Edwards Cup games so far. Their only victory came in their second game, as they beat Thunder by seven wickets, with England captain Heather Knight top-scoring. She is likely to be missing tomorrow, with the England players joining up with the national team ahead of the Ashes starting next month.
Storm suffered a five run defeat at home to Stars last time out, despite restricting the South East side to 31/4 just after the powerplay. Irish all-rounder Orla Prendergast shone with the ball, before captain Sophie Luff almost steered her side home with 43*.
The game starts at 2.30pm at the County Ground, Northampton. We wish a safe journey to those who are making the journey over to join us, or you can tune into the Live Stream, with commentary from BBC’s Guy Swindells, on our YouTube channel and in the Match Centre on the day.
