Sunrisers Head Coach, Trevor Griffin, today announced the 18 players who will pull on the Sunrisers shirt for the 2021 season. The squad will play in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and the inaugural Elite Domestic T20 competition.
Amara Carr will again captain the side, with Naomi Dattani as her vice-captain. England centrally contracted players Mady Villiers and Fran Wilson will be rejoining the squad, alongside three new faces in Kate Coppack, Katherine Speed and Emily Woodhouse.
Speaking of the completed squad, Trevor Griffin praised all involved for their dedication and adaptability over the winter months:
“It’s been brilliant to witness the hard work the players have put in during our first winter together, both those on full time contracts and those who have juggled work and education commitments. As a coach you cannot ask for more than players willing to grab any opportunity to train, expose themselves and develop. During a challenging period we have been fortunate to have been able to continue to work with the group, in a number of different environments and the players have reaped the rewards.
I must thank all of our regional partners who opened facilities for us throughout the winter, and supported us as we navigated restrictions and, often last minute, changes. Myself, and everyone at Sunrisers, cannot wait to watch this talented group of players showcase their abilities over the coming months.”
The squad contains players from six different counties, reinforcing the pool of talent across the region and the wider women’s cricket pathway.
