SUNRISERS COUNTY WATCH | 18 APRIL

Easter weekend saw the opening matches of the Women’s County T20 Competition. A number of Sunrisers Academy players featured, with the Senior players being rested to manage their workload before the start of their season.

Berkshire v Shropshire

Mia Rogers enjoyed a fine start to the County season, taking a catch and two stumpings behind the stumps before scoring 50* from 35 balls in a 10-wicket victory. In the second fixture, Rogers scored 13 as Berkshire won by 22 runs.


Buckinghamshire v Hertfordshire

Elsa Barnfather bowled 4 overs for 13 runs, and scored 6 runs, as Hertfordshire Women beat Buckinghamshire by 5 wickets in both their Women’s County T20 Group 7 fixtures.


Cambridgeshire v Essex

Jess Olorenshaw hit 42* from just 21 balls as Essex beat Cambridgeshire by 8 wickets in their opening match. Scarlett Hughes hit 10 for Essex, whilst Jazz Westley scored 9 and Izzy James 3 for the hosts.


In the second contest, Hughes scored an excellent 70 at the top of the order for Essex, with Olorenshaw scoring 20 before being bowled by James. Westley managed 25 in reply, but Essex won the game by 141 runs.


Middlesex v Huntingdonshire

Riva Pindoria bowled a double wicket maiden, and Kate Coppack took 1 for 3 in two overs in Middlesex Women’s opening game of the season against Huntingdonshire. Issy Routledge had earlier hit 46, with Amu Surenkumar finishing on 11*. Middlesex won by 147 runs.


Routledge then top-scored with 70 from just 43 balls for Middlesex in the second game, with Surenkumar scoring 17* at the back end of the innings. Coppack took the new ball, taking two wickets in her four overs and conceding just nine runs. Surenkumar took 1 for 8 in two overs, whilst Anisha Dissanayake and Pindoria both bowled three overs each as Middlesex won by 182 runs.


Northamptonshire v Oxfordshire

Jodi Grewcock hit 49* as Northamptonshire Women beat Oxfordshire by 7 wickets in their first game of the season, where Flo Miller scored a run-a-ball 7. In their second game, Miller hit 8 and Grewcock 10 as Northamptonshire won by 5 wickets.


Norfolk v Suffolk

Norfolk hosted Suffolk in the Women’s County T20 Group 4, with Suffolk prevailing in both matches against their East-Anglian counterparts. Suffolk won the first fixture by 19 runs, before winning the afternoon contest by 9 wickets.
