SUNRISERS COUNTY WATCH | 24 APRIL

The second round of fixtures of the Women’s County T20 Competition took place on Sunday 24 April, with a number of Sunrisers players turning out for their County sides.



The next round of County fixtures will take place on Bank Holiday Monday, 2 May 2022, and you can see the scorecards here. Suffolk and Cambridgeshire did not play this weekend.

Essex v Norfolk

Kelly Castle, Katherine Speed, and Scarlett Hughes all played for Essex this weekend, as they took on Norfolk at Billericay CC. Hughes and Speed shared a 41-run opening partnership, with Hughes hitting 42 from just 19 balls. Speed scored 19, after bowling 2 overs for 11, and Castle was bowled without score. Essex won the first game by 7 wickets.


Hughes then scored 50 in the second match, which included 6 fours, as Essex posted 156/3. Speed scored 26 runs, with Castle scoring 3. In reply, Castle finished with 1 wicket for 15 runs in a 63 run victory.


Hertfordshire v Huntingdonshire

Academy player Elsa Barnfather took 1 wicket for 9 runs, and gained a run-out as Hertfordshire won the first game by 129 runs. The second match incredibly saw both teams end on the exact same number of runs as the first game, with Barnfather hitting 23 opening the batting before taking 2 wickets for 9 runs in another 129 run victory.


Lincolnshire v Northamptonshire

Academy batters Jodi Grewcock and Flo Miller both played for Northamptonshire as they made the trip to Lincolnshire. Both Grewcock (19*) and Miller (9*) finished not-out as they reached their target to complete a 9-wicket victory. Batting first in the second contest, Grewcock hit 28 and Miller scored 14 as Northants won by 19 runs.


Middlesex v Buckinghamshire

Five Sunrisers were involved as Middlesex hosted Buckinghamshire at Mill Hill School. Naomi Dattani returned to captain the side, which featured Gaya Gole and Kate Coppack alongside Academy players Issy Routledge and Riva Pindoria. Dattani top-scored with 31* in the first match, with Routledge (7) and Gole (4) contributing to a 6 wicket victory. Coppack had earlier bowled 4 overs for 14 runs.


Dattani carried on her fine form later in the day, hitting a brilliant 71 before being run out in the final over. Pindoria then bowled 4 overs for just 10 runs as Middlesex completed a 70 run victory.


Kent v Surrey

Grace Scrivens played for Kent as they played Surrey on Sunday. She bowled two overs for 10 runs before top-scoring with 25 as Kent completed a 3 wicket victory in the first contest. Scrivens then scored 4 in the second match, which Kent won by 80 runs.


Worcestershire v Berkshire

Mia Rogers took a stumping before top-scoring with 49, as she opened the batting for Berkshire against Worcestershire this weekend. The first game ended in a 47 run defeat, before a 41 run loss in the second contest, where Rogers was caught for 13.
