Sunrisers are today excited to announce the loan signing of Sophie Munro, who joins for the duration of the Charlotte Edwards Cup campaign.
Munro, 22, arrives from The Blaze where she has featured regularly for the East Midlands region over the past four years since making her debut in 2020 when the side were Loughborough Lightning. She signed her first professional contract in 2022.
She joins to bolster the seam bowling department with her right-arm pace, which has been injury hit since the start of the season.
She has started the 2024 season brilliantly, taking eight wickets at an average of 15 in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy – including 3/28 away to Northern Diamonds at the start of the month.
Munro has also played in the Hundred since its inception in 2021, featuring for London Spirit and Trent Rockets – she was retained for the 2024 Spirit squad, who drafted Sunrisers stars Cordelia Griffith and Eva Gray.
On the signing, Sunrisers Head Coach Andy Tennant commented: “It is great that we have been able to get Sophie in on loan. She is an excellent young pace bowling all-rounder with outstanding potential, but more importantly a strong track record in short form cricket with London Spirit.
We are excited to be working with her over the upcoming period to deliver success for both Sophie and Sunrisers.”
Sophie will wear number 28 during her time with us. Please join us in welcoming her to the Club!
