SUNRISERS UNVEIL REMAINING HOME VENUES FOR 2021 FIXTURES

Updated: May 18, 2021

Sunrisers are pleased to confirm the venues for three more Women’s Elite Domestic fixtures this summer.

Cambridge University’s Fenner’s Ground will play host to two Sunrisers matches - one in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and one in the elite regional T20 competition, whilst Middlesex Cricket will also welcome the London and East’s elite women’s side to Northwood, for a fifty-over encounter at their out-ground venue of Merchant Taylors’ School.

Cambridge University will host the Sunrisers and Northern Diamonds fifty-over clash on Saturday 5th June, as the sides go head to head for the first time ever. The August bank holiday Monday, 30th, will see the return of Sunrisers, this time in the T20 format against Western Storm.

Merchant Taylors School opens its doors on Friday 10th September when Sunrisers take on Central Sparks in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.

Tickets are now on sale for each of the Sunrisers matches at Chelmsford, with information on tickets for all other matches being released soon.

Nick Brooking, Cambridge University Director of Sport, spoke of the University's pride to be hosting Sunrisers, both in these two matches and as they have trained over the last year:

“We are delighted to be hosting Sunrisers’ matches at the historic Fenner’s cricket ground in Cambridge.

The University Cricket Club is approaching the 200th Anniversary of its inaugural game and, while we look back with pride at the great names and achievements of cricketers that have played at this magnificent ground, it is also hugely important that we look forward. We are very pleased to be part of the latest development of the sport through our association with Sunrisers, who have used our indoor cricket and fitness facilities during the winter and will seek success on the first class wickets at Fenner’s.

We share a common goal of encouraging learning for all and enabling talented people to reach their potential in the classroom and on the sports field.”

Angus Fraser, Middlesex Cricket’s Managing Director of Cricket, commented:

“We are looking forward to welcoming and watching Sunrisers in action at Merchant Taylors’ School for what will hopefully be the first of many occasions.

“MTS are brilliant supporters of Middlesex Cricket, and Sunrisers spent much of the pre-season with us in Northwood, using the school’s excellent training facilities to prepare for the season ahead. It will be great to see them playing competitively there this summer.”

Speaking of the addition of both grounds Danni Warren, Regional Director of Women’s Cricket for Sunrisers, was thrilled to be able to take the team to more venues around the region:

“As a regional side, Sunrisers proudly represent a huge geographic and demographic spectrum, and to take our side to the region is incredibly important to us. In addition to the fixtures we have at Chelmsford and Northampton, Fenner’s and Merchant Taylors School bring in the central and southern aspects of our region, making us accessible to all fans and stakeholders. We are very much looking forward to working with Middlesex Cricket and Cambridge University to open our doors and deliver the best possible fan experience.”
